Ironwork Projects
This project was of particular difficulty to me, as it expanded my horizons in terms of differing applied skills. This is the first major project in which I applied gilding as a skill and craft, which can be seen on the piece of glass and some metal elements. I learned several lessons in the creation of this piece.
This piece titled “Twisted Garden” is a statue piece playing with many different shapes and forms. It is the first project I have made with the intention to make a medium to large scale statue, with all my other large projects serving a particular functional purpose.
This dining room chair is currently my most significant completed project, utilizing my skills in forge welding and traditional joinery, combined with planning and design. aspects. It is a collaboration between myself and a friend of mine, Steve Sladeck of Iron Toad Forge. It constitutes approximately 80 hours of work between the two of us.
“Battlefield and a Watcher” is a decorative piece in the ironwork gallery at Manufactotum in Verona Italy, where I interned over the summer if 2024. It is comprised of a usable chess set in a mid game placing, and a winged serpent in the background. this piece is meant to symbolize the way that politics divides a population while those in power look on in amusement, their population is under control.
